    • Description

Altano Quinta do Vesuvio 2019 is produced by the Symington family from the renowned Quinta do Vesuvio estate in the Douro Superior, a property recognised for its old vines and wild, rugged terroir with schist-rich soils. The 2019 vintage saw a dry growing season with low yields, resulting in grapes of high concentration and freshness. Varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Amarela were hand-harvested and carefully sorted, then fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to ensure precise extraction of colour and aroma. Maturation took place in French oak barrels for about 10 months, enhancing structure and complexity. Bottled at 14% abv, this Douro red displays intense colour, dark berry fruit, floral notes, and subtle spice, balanced by vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Suitable for immediate enjoyment or short- to medium-term cellaring.
