Description
Altano Quinta do Vesuvio 2020 is produced by the Symington family at the historic Quinta do Vesuvio estate in the Douro Superior, a site famed for its old-vine plantings and schist-rich slopes. The 2020 growing season was marked by limited rainfall and high summer temperatures, resulting in low yields and grapes of notable intensity and purity. Key varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Barroca were hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatics and ensure precise extraction. The wine matured for approximately 10 months in French oak barrels, adding structure and subtle complexity. Bottled at 14% abv, Altano Quinta do Vesuvio 2020 shows deep colour, concentrated berry fruit, floral and mineral notes, and fine-grained tannins. It is ready to enjoy now or can be cellared for additional development.
