    • Description

Bideona Cofrades is a true rarity - crafted from a single, 1945-planted field blend vineyard in Leza, which includes a mix of Tempranillo and other indigenous red and white varieties. This tiny plot is dry-farmed and tended by hand, ensuring healthy, concentrated fruit that captures the essence of its unique microclimate. After wild fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is matured for a full 20 months in two 500L and one 300L French oak barrels, a regime that allows slow development and nuanced integration of spice, structure and fruit. Only a handful of barrels are produced each year, making Cofrades both collectible and distinct. The nose is intense with black cherry, damson, cedar and a trace of graphite; the palate is robust, full-bodied and finely layered, showing firm tannins, bright acidity and the mineral echo of Leza's limestone soils. Age-worthy and profound, this wine is a superb match for braised beef, game or hard cheeses, and offers an authentic taste of Rioja's historic vineyards.
