    • Description

Galtzada is a singular Garnacha produced from a tiny, high-altitude (650m) vineyard in Lanciego, planted in 1952 and organically farmed. This single-parcel, limestone-rich site yields grapes of rare intensity and aromatic lift. Bideona hand-harvests at optimal ripeness, then ferments the fruit on native yeasts in small open-top wooden vats to maximise site transparency. The wine then matures for nine months in large 1,500L Austrian Stockinger foudres (German oak), chosen for their ability to impart gentle structure without overshadowing the grape's floral and mineral nuances. The resulting wine is perfumed with wild raspberry, pomegranate, rose petal and a hint of white pepper, underpinned by a palate that's medium-bodied, silken and energetic, finishing with chalky tannins and lingering salinity. Unfined and unfiltered, Galtzada is a rare, site-driven Garnacha designed to highlight the precision and purity of Rioja Alavesa's old vines. Ideal with grilled vegetables, duck breast, or modern Mediterranean fare.
