Description
Crafted exclusively from vineyards encircling the historic village of Samaniego, S4MG0 embodies Bideona's terroir-first philosophy. The estate sources from bush-trained Tempranillo vines, some planted as early as 1930, on limestone and clay slopes that lend structure and minerality to the wine. Grapes are harvested by hand and undergo spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel with minimal intervention, followed by twelve months ageing: around 55% in 300L and 500L French oak barrels (largely used, to avoid overt wood influence), and the remainder in concrete tanks. This approach allows the wine's core of dark fruit, wild violets and subtle earthiness to shine, complemented by polished tannins and a backbone of lively acidity. The result is a serious yet approachable Rioja with layers of black cherry, liquorice, incense, and a distinct mineral tension on the finish. Samaniego pairs exceptionally with roast lamb, braised dishes or rich vegetarian cuisine, and is a benchmark for the village's unique expression of Tempranillo.
