Description
Founded in 1831 in Beaune, Maison Albert Bichot selects limestone rich parcels in Gevrey Chambertin to capture depth and clear village typicity. The 2019 cuvee was harvested for freshness, the fruit fully destemmed and fermented in tank to preserve bright detail with moderate extraction. Maturation followed in French oak barrels, with a modest proportion new, to add grain and length without imposing overt wood. In the glass the wine marries dark cherry and blackberry with forest and light earth tones, a discreet cedar accent in the background. The palate sits medium to full in weight, structured and chalk lined, acidity clean and the tannins firm but polished. The finish is dry, savoury and persistent, delivering substance without heaviness. Built for the table, it aligns with the house aim for clarity of fruit and fine, controlled structure, and it has the balance for short to mid term cellaring while keeping origin and the classic feel of the year to the fore.
