Description
Collaboration Wines is a boutique Hawke's Bay producer established by winemaker Julianne Brooks, specialising in small-lot, vineyard-focused wines that reflect elegance and site expression. Argent is the flagship Cabernet blend in the range, drawing fruit from the warm gravel soils of the Gimblett Gravels and Triangle subregions, regarded as Hawke's Bay's finest terroir for Bordeaux varieties.
The 2021 vintage is composed of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Merlot and 6.5% Cabernet Franc. Grapes were hand-picked, destemmed and cold-soaked before fermentation in open fermenters. Gentle cap management preserved varietal aromatics and tannin finesse. The wine then matured for twenty-four months in French oak barriques, around 30% new, integrating structure, spice and complexity.
The finished wine displays concentrated notes of cassis, blackberry and blackcurrant leaf, lifted by violet and framed by cedar and graphite from oak. Firm tannins and bright acidity provide definition and length, ensuring both immediate impact and long cellaring potential. Argent stands as a benchmark expression of Hawke's Bay Cabernet, uniting power, precision and elegance.
