Description
The Misha's Vineyard Lyric Riesling 2022 is a bone-dry and precise expression of Central Otago's Bendigo subregion, crafted to highlight purity, minerality and tension. Sourced from GM239 Riesling vines planted on free-draining schist soils, the fruit was hand-harvested across three picks in April 2022 and whole-bunch pressed before gentle settling. Approximately 69% of the juice was cool-fermented in stainless steel to preserve varietal clarity and citrus intensity, while 31% underwent spontaneous fermentation in seasoned French oak to build texture and subtle complexity. Bottled at 13.0% ABV with 4.1 g/L residual sugar, 7.2 g/L total acidity and a pH of 3.01, the wine shows lifted aromas of lime zest, red apple, orange peel and white blossom over a saline, mineral edge. The palate is taut and linear, driven by vivid citrus and orchard fruit layered with chalky texture and crystalline precision. Long, dry and refreshing, this Riesling is an ideal aperitif style and will evolve gracefully over the next decade, developing further depth and nuance with age.
