    • Description

Welland Old Hands Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is produced from heritage Cabernet vines, some planted over 40 years ago, on the alluvial soils of the Barossa Valley. The 2021 harvest was hand-picked at optimal ripeness, then fermented in small open vats with extended maceration to build structure and depth. Maturation in French oak barrels for 15 months imparted complexity and fine-grained tannins, enhancing the wine’s classic varietal profile. The result is a Cabernet showing blackcurrant, graphite and cedar, layered with tobacco and savoury undertones. Welland, established in 2018, emphasises site-driven, low-intervention winemaking, ensuring that the unique character of old-vine Cabernet is preserved. Bottled at 14.5% abv under screwcap, this release offers both concentration and balance.
