    • Description

Chardonnay in the Waitaki Valley ripens slowly and with tension, shaped by cool, inland conditions and soils composed of limestone and glacial gravel. The 2019 vintage from Tatty Bogler is a pure and finely etched example of the region's distinctive style. Fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in seasoned French oak barriques, where it underwent full malolactic conversion and ten months on lees. Bottled dry at 13% ABV with 6.5g/L total acidity, a pH of 3.45 and minimal residual sugar, the wine opens with aromas of green apple skin, crushed herbs and toasted brioche. The palate is focused and savoury, delivering citrus pith, mealy texture and a taut mineral backbone. Quietly complex and cellar-worthy, this is a cool-climate Chardonnay built for poached seafood, roast poultry or rich, creamy pasta.
