Description
The Ata Rangi Pinot Gris 2024 is a finely balanced and expressive Martinborough release that captures both the aromatic lift and structural depth of the variety. Fruit was hand-picked at optimum ripeness and whole-bunch pressed, with a portion fermented in old oak to enhance texture and complexity while retaining freshness. The wine opens with bright aromas of fresh pear, white peach and citrus blossom, alongside hints of lychee, rose and jasmine. Subtle notes of nutmeg and ground ginger add warmth and spice. The palate is layered and textural, showing juicy orchard fruit framed by taut acidity and a mineral undertone reminiscent of wet stone. A gentle phenolic grip and lees-derived weight lend depth, while the finish is long, clean and refreshing with lingering citrus and herbal nuances. Beautifully poised between vibrancy and richness, this Pinot Gris is delicious now but will gain further complexity with three to five years of cellaring.
