Description
The Misha's Vineyard Dress Circle Pinot Gris 2022 is a finely balanced and textural white from Central Otago’s Bendigo subregion, crafted to highlight both varietal purity and site expression. Fruit from north-facing estate vines planted in 2005 was hand-harvested at 24.1–24.3 °Brix and gently crushed before whole-bunch pressing. Approximately two-thirds of the juice was cool-fermented in stainless steel to preserve fresh aromatics, while 43% underwent wild fermentation in seasoned French oak hogsheads to build mid-palate weight and complexity. Bottled at 14.0% ABV with 3.4 g/L residual sugar, the wine opens with expressive aromas of white pear, quince, citrus blossom and rose petal, alongside hints of anise and spice. The palate is medium-bodied and dry, with flavours of peach, pear and apple layered over ginger and soft floral notes. A glossy texture from lees contact, bright acidity and a touch of talcum-like minerality lead to a long, refreshing finish. Elegant yet generous, this Pinot Gris is delicious now and will continue to evolve over the next five years.
