Description
Prunotto Barolo Classico 2019 is a benchmark expression of Nebbiolo from the heart of the Barolo DOCG, showcasing the precision and heritage of one of Piedmont's most historic producers. Made from 100% Nebbiolo sourced from vineyards across the key Barolo communes, the grapes were harvested in early October and vinified traditionally with extended maceration to extract structure and aromatic complexity. The wine underwent full malolactic conversion before maturing for at least 24 months in large oak casks, followed by additional time in bottle before release. Bottled at 14% ABV, it shows a vibrant garnet core with brick-tinged edges and an aromatic profile of wild cherry, raspberry and redcurrant alongside rose petal, violet, anise and subtle tobacco leaf. The palate is medium to full-bodied and finely structured, with Nebbiolo's firm yet refined tannins, lively acidity and layers of red fruit, dried herbs, sweet spice and forest floor. A long, elegant finish carries hints of cedar and earthy minerality. Already approachable, this Barolo will develop added nuance and depth over the next 10 to 15 years and pairs beautifully with truffle risotto, braised beef, aged cheeses and game.
