Description
Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo d'Alba 2021 is a refined and expressive example of Piedmont Nebbiolo, balancing aromatic finesse with varietal structure. Sourced from the historic Occhetti vineyard on sandy slopes near Monteu Roero, the wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo, harvested in early October and vinified traditionally. After destemming and gentle pressing, fermentation proceeds with around 7 days of maceration at controlled temperatures, followed by full malolactic conversion. The wine then ages in oak and stainless steel to develop texture while preserving freshness. Bottled at 14% ABV, it shows a bright ruby core with garnet reflections and opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, layered with rose, violet, thyme and a hint of liquorice. The palate is medium-bodied, vibrant and finely structured, offering pure red berry fruit supported by fresh acidity, firm but silky tannins and subtle notes of earth, spice and white pepper on the long, savoury finish. Elegant yet approachable, it will drink beautifully now and evolve gracefully for 5 to 7 years. It pairs well with mushroom risotto, game birds, aged cheeses and truffle-infused dishes.
