    • Description

Located in Ampuis in the northern Rhône, Guigal are one of the region’s top producers. They boast a wide range of wines, from the generic and dependable Côtes-du-Rhône to the dazzling Côte-Rôtie, with many smart expressions in between.

They are proponents of the organic persuasion, with a steady focus on low yields, an abiding love of old vines, and a propensity for pushing out the harvest dates. The Guigal Côte-Rôtie wines are always highly sought after and often difficult to procure, none more so than the 2009s, which managed to score themselves a clean 100 points out of 100.

The 2020 Hermitage is powerful, mineral- and smoke-accented black and blue fruit, potpourri, olive and vanilla aromas acquire a spicy nuance as the wine opens up. Offers densely packed cherry-cola, cassis and blueberry flavors that show excellent clarity and a smoky top note. Finishes impressively long, youthfully chewy and spicy, with building tannins and a suave, lingering candied violet note. 50% new oak.
