Alois Lageder Löwengang Chardonnay Dolomiti IGT 2021 is the flagship white from this sixth-generation estate, founded in 1823 in Alto Adige. Produced from historic vineyard holdings near Magrè, planted on gravelly alluvial soils, it represents one of Italy's pioneering barrel-fermented Chardonnays. Spontaneous fermentation and full malolactic in French oak barriques - around a third new - precede over 11 months of ageing on fine lees, followed by further time in bottle before release. The 2021 is intense and structured, with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, hazelnut, and flint, offering power and precision with age-worthy depth.
