Description
Bideona's philosophy is deeply rooted in the slopes - or “laderas” - of Rioja Alavesa, where a patchwork of small, family-farmed Tempranillo vineyards stretches across limestone terraces facing the Cantabrian mountains. The Tempranillo de Laderas is drawn from low-yielding, old bush vines hand-tended to reflect each vineyard's distinctive character. Grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, destemmed, and fermented on native yeasts in stainless steel to maximise aromatics and purity. About one-third of the wine matures for five months in a precise blend of French and American oak, imparting delicate notes of clove, vanilla and cedar, while the remainder remains in tank, preserving freshness and vivid fruit. Bottled under Diam to safeguard natural expression, this Rioja exhibits lifted red and black cherry, raspberry and hints of violet on the nose, supported by a palate that's medium-bodied with refined tannins, lively acidity, and a trace of spice. The finish is savoury and mouth-watering, a testament to both site and sensitive winemaking. This is a vibrant, contemporary Rioja that honours tradition while appealing to modern palates, perfect for grilled lamb, Iberian pork or vegetable paella.
