      Established in 1901 in Haro, Rioja's celebrated wine capital, Bodegas Bilbaínas is a historic estate known for its commitment to regional authenticity and classic maturation in American oak. The 2016 Viña Pomal Rioja Reserva is sourced from estate vineyards in Rioja Alta, where Tempranillo thrives on chalky-clay soils. Grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18 months of ageing in American oak barrels - a signature of the house style - adding aromatic complexity and finesse. The resulting wine shows layered aromas of red cherry, plum, vanilla and a touch of spice, with a palate that is medium-bodied, finely structured, and fresh, marked by supple tannins and a long, elegant finish. Suitable for immediate enjoyment or further development with additional cellaring.
