    • Description

"In years graced with challenging climatic conditions, the terroir of Château d'Yquem, with its varying altitudes and sun exposures provided to the vines, its patchwork of soils, and its breezy hillside slopes enables the salvation of much of the harvest. The year 1940 was one such complex vintage, presenting the women and men of Yquem with the opportunity to rise to the occasion by endeavoring to pick the finest grapes at just the right moment and location. Our predecessors succeeded brilliantly, allowing us in 2025 to savour this 85-year-old Château d'Yquem. Its clear, orange-tinged to slightly amber hue hints at a wine of great finesse. A zesty nose suggests kumquat, enhanced with notes of rhubarb and orange marmalade. Spicy undertones, notably those of saffron, fortify this wine's identity. On the palate, it is lively with tremendous aromatic freshness. Notes of candied fruit build in intensity, followed by beautiful bitters that sketch out a long and elevated finish.

By immersing you in the universe of this great wine, we are offering a unique and memorable experience which perfectly reflects this timeless vintage. You will be taken on a guided tour of the estate, accompanied by five people of your choice, followed by a tasting of three vintages from the 21st century. We will be delighted to personalise your cherished wine case at your request." - Chateau D'Yquem
