Description
Churchill's, founded in 1981 by the Graham family, is known for producing distinctive Douro wines that respect both tradition and innovation. Meio Queijo Tinto is a field blend sourced from high-elevation vineyards in the Douro Superior, where warm days and cool nights yield grapes with freshness and aromatic intensity. The fruit - mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and other native varieties - is hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts. The wine then spends six months in stainless steel before a further six months in seasoned French oak barrels, which round out the tannins and add gentle spice. Bottled under cork at 14.5% ABV, Meio Queijo shows vivid aromas of blackberry, wild cherry, violets and pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, juicy and savoury, with smooth tannins and lively acidity. Designed for modern, everyday drinking, it pairs perfectly with grilled meats, tapas, or charcuterie, offering a fresh perspective on Douro red tradition.
