    • Description

Founded in 1885, Famille Bougrier brings long Loire experience to this Chinon Cabernet Franc 2022, sourced from sites harvested for ripe yet fresh profiles. Fruit is fully destemmed and fermented cool in stainless steel to foreground red fruit and violet lift, with cap management kept moderate to avoid hardness. Elevage is brief and discreet, largely in tank, to settle tannins without overt oak, keeping the line clean and varietal detail to the fore. In the glass it sits light to mid weight with cherry and blackcurrant notes, subtle herb and a hint of graphite. Tannins are fine, chalk dusted and neatly shaped by fresh acidity, the finish dry and savoury with a faint stony echo. This is a classic, accessible Chinon built for the table rather than show, well suited to bistro dishes, charcuterie and simple grills, and a clear example of Bougrier's steady, value led style: clean fruit, moderate extraction and oak that supports structure without leaving a heavy imprint.
