Description
Founded in 1946, Ferraton Pere & Fils has long selected Cotes du Rhone Villages sites to bottle clear, fruit led reds with regional character. Plan de Dieu 2022 is sourced from old vine Grenache and Syrah rooted in the appellation’s stony terraces. The fruit is fully destemmed and fermented in a mix of concrete and stainless steel to emphasise purity and preserve bright, pepper toned aromatics. Maturation follows largely in tank, with a modest portion in large vessels to round tannins without overt oak imprint, keeping focus on fruit and line. In the glass it is fuller and darker than basic Cotes du Rhone, carrying black fruit, garrigue and spice. The palate is firm but polished, framed by ripe tannins and clean acidity, the mid palate substantial yet not heavy. A savoury, chalk edged thread shapes the long, dry finish. This is a serious yet accessible Villages red for grilled meats and stews, showing a clear Plan de Dieu imprint and Ferraton’s measured, modern handling from harvest to bottle.
