Description
Founded in 1992 by Swiss partners Georg Fromm and Hatsch Kalberer, Fromm Winery in Marlborough has always pursued purity and precision through organic viticulture and restrained winemaking. The Fromm Riesling Spatlese 2024 reflects this ethos, crafted entirely from estate fruit grown on organically farmed vineyards. The grapes were hand picked at late harvest ripeness to achieve balance between natural sweetness and acidity, then whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts to preserve aromatic clarity. Bottled under screwcap, it captures both concentration and finesse. The wine shows a bright straw colour with green hues. The aroma is vibrant and detailed, revealing lime zest, white peach, nectarine, mandarin and jasmine, underpinned by a fine mineral lift. The palate is off dry yet taut, layering ripe citrus and orchard fruits over crisp acidity and delicate chalky texture. The finish is long, mouthwatering and precisely balanced. Serve well chilled at 10 to 12 degrees Celsius; pairs beautifully with spicy Thai or Vietnamese dishes, smoked trout, blue cheese or fruit tarts, and will develop gracefully for at least a decade.
