Description
Fromm Winery, founded in 1992 by Swiss partners Georg Fromm and Hatsch Kalberer, has remained true to a philosophy of elegance, restraint and terroir expression through organic viticulture. The Fromm Rosé 2023 reflects this ethos, produced from organically farmed vineyards across Marlborough’s Waihopai, Brancott and Wairau Valleys. Predominantly Pinot Noir with small portions of Syrah, Malbec and Viognier, the grapes were hand picked between mid March and mid April 2023. After gentle whole bunch pressing, only free run and lightly pressed juice was retained. Fermentation took place in stainless steel at cool temperatures with a short period of lees contact for texture and integration. Bottled under screwcap on 22 September 2023, the finished wine carries 13 percent alcohol and less than one gram per litre residual sugar. The colour is pale salmon, with aromas of wild strawberry, white peach, melon and citrus blossom. The palate is dry, finely balanced and mineral edged, combining red berry and citrus fruit with subtle savoury complexity. The finish is crisp, refreshing and persistent. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius; ideal with shellfish, cured meats or summer salads, and best enjoyed within two years of vintage.
