Description
The Langmeil The Fifth Wave Grenache 2022 is the pinnacle of Langmeil's Grenache program and a flagship expression of old-vine Barossa fruit. Sourced from some of the region's oldest dry-grown bush vines, many planted in the 1940s and 1950s, the fruit is hand-harvested, gently destemmed and fermented in small open fermenters to preserve fragrance and finesse. After pressing, the wine matures for around 18 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads to soften tannins and build texture without overt oak influence. Bottled at 14.8% ABV, it pours deep crimson and opens with vibrant aromas of raspberry, cherry and red plum layered with clove, dried herbs and hints of potpourri. The palate is medium to full-bodied, balancing juicy red fruit purity with savoury spice, earth and subtle almond tones. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity frame the wine’s plush core, leading to a long, silky finish. This vintage captures Grenache's hallmark elegance and Barossa depth, drinking beautifully now but with the structure to evolve over the next decade.
