    • Description

Mahi Rose 2023 is a refined expression of Marlborough's terroir, crafted by Mahi Wines, a boutique winery known for its commitment to showcasing the individuality of various vineyard sites. Founded in 2001 by Brian and Nicola Bicknell, Mahi emphasizes texture and depth in its wines, moving beyond the primary fruit notes typical of many Marlborough Rosés. The 2023 vintage continues this philosophy, resulting in a wine that is both complex and approachable.

The grapes for this Rosé were sourced from two vineyards in the cooler western end of the Wairau Valley, selected specifically for Rosé production from low-cropping Pinot Noir vines. The juice was pressed off immediately to minimize skin contact, preserving freshness and purity. Fermentation occurred at cool temperatures to retain delicate fruit characters, and the wine was fermented to dryness, resulting in a crisp and clean profile. The focus was to provide a wine with texture and depth, employing techniques to achieve a satisfying experience across the palate.

In the glass, Mahi Rose 2023 presents a pale salmon pink hue. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of ripe strawberry, red cherry, and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a creamy texture and balanced acidity. Flavors of citrus peel and stone fruits lead to a long, refreshing finish.

This Rose pairs well with a variety of dishes, including shellfish, appetizers, mild cheeses, and cured meats. Its versatility and refined profile make it an excellent choice for both casual and formal occasions.
