Description
St Henri is a time-honoured and alternative expression of shiraz, and an intriguing counterpoint to Grange. It is unusual amongst high quality Australian red wines as it does not rely on any new oak. This allows the fruit purity to really shine through. A complex nose of blackberry, plums and some spice. The palate shows great depth and richness, with decadent flavours of dark chocolate, dark plums and berries, strawberry jam and roasted nuts. The palate is round, generous and very inviting. Lay it down for a few years and enjoy on the younger side, or pop it down for a couple decades and see how remarkably well it ages. Another show-stopper from the ever-consistent Penfolds.
