Description
Sugarille is the Gaja family's flagship single-vineyard Brunello, grown on stony, south-facing galestro soils that produce Sangiovese of depth, density and finesse. Grapes are harvested at full physiological ripeness and sorted with extraordinary care. Fermentation is conducted using wild yeasts, followed by extended maceration to extract structure and complexity. The wine then matures for around 30 months in French oak barriques - half of which are new - before further bottle ageing in the estate cellars. Sugarille 2018 is a wine of tremendous presence, opening with intense aromas of black cherry, cassis, liquorice, cedar, and sweet herbs. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated, and layered, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and notes of spice, tobacco and mineral. The finish is exceptionally long and structured, ensuring decades of ageing potential. Decant before serving with bistecca alla fiorentina, aged cheeses or truffled game, and enjoy a profound expression of Brunello's highest artistry.
