    • Description

Rock Ferry, founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Fenwick, is an organic Marlborough estate committed to producing wines that showcase both varietal character and vineyard expression. The Corners vineyard in Rapaura provides a distinctive site for Cabernet Franc, yielding fruit of perfume and freshness.

In 2023, hand-harvested grapes were destemmed into small oak puncheons for fermentation. Gentle cap management was employed to preserve aromatics and refine tannin extraction. After pressing, the wine was transferred to seasoned French oak barriques for fourteen months of elevage, building structure and harmony without obscuring fruit purity.

The resulting wine is fragrant and supple, showing lifted raspberry and plum fruit layered with subtle leafy and herbal notes. The palate is medium-bodied and balanced, with bright acidity and fine tannins giving shape and persistence. A precise Marlborough Cabernet Franc that highlights both the variety’s elegance and the Corners vineyard’s character.
