    • Description

Rock Ferry, founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Fenwick, is an organic Marlborough estate producing site-focused wines from Marlborough and Central Otago. The Mid Hill Pinot Noir highlights the quality of Bendigo fruit, crafted from a selection of clones that contribute to both fragrance and structure.

In 2016, Pinot Noir clones UCD 5, 115 and 777 were co-fermented before pressing into French oak barriques. Around one-third new oak was employed, and the wine matured for 20 months to develop depth and integration. This extended elevage refined the tannins and layered subtle oak complexity over the concentrated fruit.

The finished wine is aromatic and detailed, with notes of cherry, plum and cinnamon spice. The palate is finely structured, showing polished tannins, bright acidity and a long, persistent finish. A poised Central Otago Pinot Noir that balances richness with elegance.
