Description
Rock Ferry, founded by Tom Hutchison and Fiona Fenwick, is an organic Marlborough estate known for exploring vineyard expression through thoughtful, hands-on winemaking. The Rise & Shine Pinot Noir reflects the character of this Central Otago parcel while highlighting the use of amphora to build purity and texture.
In 2020, hand-harvested Pinot Noir from the Rise & Shine vineyard was destemmed into terracotta amphorae, where it fermented and rested for six months. The wine was then transferred to seasoned French oak barriques for a further twelve months of élevage, integrating subtle savoury notes while preserving bright fruit.
The finished wine is vibrant and supple, offering red-berry and cherry aromas with lifted spice. The palate shows silky tannins and savoury undertones, finishing with elegance and persistence.
