Description
Schubert Wines, founded in Martinborough by German winemakers Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, is recognised for organically farmed vineyards and an Old World approach to New Zealand winemaking. Tribianco is their distinctive white blend, bringing together Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Muller-Thurgau in a style that is rare in New Zealand and designed for texture, depth and food friendliness.
For the 2022 vintage, fruit was harvested together and whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation and maturation took place in neutral French oak barriques and larger puncheons, allowing for subtle oak integration and the development of a layered palate. This minimal-intervention approach retains freshness while building weight and savoury complexity.
The wine opens with aromas of pear, stone fruit and citrus, evolving into hints of spice and creamy texture on the palate. Rounded yet balanced by fresh acidity, Schubert Tribianco 2022 is a versatile Martinborough white wine that pairs beautifully with seafood, poultry or rich vegetarian dishes. Its rare combination of varieties makes it a standout choice for those seeking an alternative to Chardonnay or Pinot Gris with greater textural interest.
