The Tokaj Oremus Mandolas Dry Furmint 2021 is a benchmark expression of Hungary’s noble white grape, crafted by Vega Sicilia’s Tokaj estate to show the depth and precision of single-vineyard Furmint. Sourced from hand-harvested fruit grown in the historic Mandolas vineyard, the wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and new Hungarian oak, with around 70% aged in small barrels for three months on fine lees with regular batonnage before a further three months of maturation. Bottled at 13.0% ABV with 2.3 g/L residual sugar and 7.8 g/L total acidity, it balances tension and texture in equal measure. The nose is pure and expressive with aromas of waxed lemon, white peach, sliced apple and delicate blossom, supported by beeswax and subtle cream tones. The palate is dry, vibrant and finely textured, layering citrus and orchard fruit with hints of melon and honeycomb, while a chalky mineral thread and vivid acidity drive length and precision. Elegant yet powerful, it is built for pairing with seafood, white meats or soft cheeses and will evolve beautifully over the next decade.
