An elegant nose with scents of white blossom, apricot, rockmelon, honey, and lime. The palate displays an abundance of florals, citrus, dried apricot, and orange-blossom honey with a gentle sweetness that is balanced beautifully by the salty acidity.

The texture is concentrated and mouth-filling with a seamless flow. The botrytis in this Riesling makes it a wonderful contrast to the linearity of our classic Waitaki Riesling and highlights the magic of the 2025 growing season.

Delicious on its own before or after a meal and also with cheese or with desserts that are low on the sweetness scale. Enjoy at release and for another 15+ years.

Tasting Notes

Valli Dolce Vita Late Harvest Riesling 2025 is an exquisite expression of elegance and complexity, crafted to captivate even the most discerning palates. This premium late harvest Riesling offers a captivating aromatic profile featuring an elegant nose filled with delicate scents of white blossom, ripe apricot, succulent rockmelon, luscious honey, and zesty lime. Each inhale reveals layers of florals and bright citrus that set the stage for a richly textured tasting experience.

On the palate, the wine unfolds with abundant flavors of dried apricot and orange-blossom honey, perfectly balanced by a gentle sweetness and a distinctive salty acidity. This harmonious interplay creates a seamless, mouth-filling texture that invites slow, appreciative sipping. The presence of botrytis in this vintage adds a unique dimension, providing a delightful contrast to the linear structure of classic Waitaki Rieslings and showcasing the exceptional qualities of the 2025 growing season.

The 2025 vintage benefited from ideal climatic conditions in the Waitaki region, allowing for optimal botrytis development and concentration of flavors. This contributes to the wine’s remarkable complexity and aging potential. Valli Dolce Vita Late Harvest Riesling is a versatile companion, equally enjoyable on its own before or after meals, and pairs beautifully with a selection of cheeses or desserts that are delicately sweet without overpowering the wine's refined balance.

Designed for both immediate pleasure upon release and long-term cellaring, this Riesling promises to evolve gracefully over the next 15+ years. Its combination of floral aromatics, vibrant citrus notes, and rich honeyed nuances make it a standout choice for enthusiasts seeking a luxurious late harvest wine that exemplifies the finesse and character of New Zealand’s premium terroir.

About this Wine

Central Otago

Central Otago is the southernmost wine growing region in the world, located at a latitude of 45 degrees south, on New Zealand’s south island. A spectacular landscape makes the region one of the most scenic wine regions if not in the world then certainly in New Zealand. Central to the region is the tourist destination of Queenstown, which is a great base to make wine trips from. Heavy mineral deposits in silt loams are typical for the soils in Central Otago, but is unlike any other region in New Zealand. The Otago region is the countries only ‘continental ’ wine growing region. Pinot Noir is the flagship red varietal, which is very well suited to the regions large diurnal shifts (a large diurnal shift means a big difference between low and high temperatures) and also the regions long, cool and dry autumn. The Pinot Noirs coming out of the Otago region are most often fragrant, lush Pinot Noirs with silky textures and true fruit intensity. Aromatic whites also thrive, in particular Riesling where anything from bone-dry to very sweet can be made. Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and lesser amounts of Chardonnay is also made to a very high quality. Central Otago is in Jancis Robinson’s top five New World wine producing regions.
