    • Description

Made by winemaker Sarah Crowe, the 2020 Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 2 is a Rhone-inspired blend of 95% Syrah, 3% Mataro, and 2% Viognier. Estate-grown fruit was hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented in small open fermenters, with a portion of whole-cluster inclusion adding lift and structure. The wine was matured for fifteen months in French oak barriques, around 30% new, and bottled under screwcap for longevity.

The nose is fragrant with blackberry, plum and violet, layered with spice and dried herb complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, combining dark fruit with savoury notes of pepper and fine tannins, finishing long and balanced with a subtle floral lift from the Viognier.

Elegant and expressive, this wine is enjoyable in its youth yet has the structure to evolve gracefully for more than a decade.
