Description
Drawing on generations of winemaking heritage, Zonin's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC is sourced from select hillside vineyards in the rugged Teramo province. The region's warm days and cool nights encourage gradual ripening and flavour development in Montepulciano grapes, while the estate's sustainable farming methods ensure fruit purity. Grapes are picked at peak ripeness, gently destemmed, and fermented in stainless steel to capture deep colour and lively aromatics. The wine sees minimal or no oak, maintaining the grape's characteristic juiciness and supple texture. After a short period of maturation, Montepulciano is bottled under natural cork, delivering a ruby-red wine with intense notes of black cherry, plum, violets, and hints of wild herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins, moderate acidity and a savoury finish marked by a touch of liquorice and earth. Versatile and crowd-pleasing, this Montepulciano is excellent with tomato-based pastas, grilled sausages, or pizza, and stands out as a vibrant example of central Italy's winemaking tradition.
