Description
Bin 389 is often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. On the nose, sweet American oak aromas jump out first - baking spices, cinnamon scroll, vanilla bean, followed by an array of fruity aromas including fresh, dark plums and blackberries, raspberry coulis and a subtle savoury note of tapenade and sun-dried tomato. True to form, this 389 shows great balance of the richness of Shiraz with the structure of Cabernet. A creamy mid-palate paves showing a wine of great depth and breadth with enticing flavours of fennel, red licorice, cherry and deep, dark fruit. The tannins are ripe, firm and blend seamlessy with the creaminess of the wine. A wonderfully balanced, rich and impressive wine.
