    • Description

Founded in 1831 in Beaune, Maison Albert Bichot has long looked to the Maconnais for an accessible, fruit led expression of Chardonnay. Macon Villages 2020 is drawn from selected southern Burgundy villages and was harvested with freshness in mind after a warm, generous season. Fermentation took place in stainless steel at moderate temperatures to keep primary detail to the fore, followed by a short period on fine lees to round the palate without any oak influence. The intent is clarity and drinkability, allowing variety and limestone soils to set the tone. In the glass it shows ripe pear and apple with citrus lift and a light almond note, the palate supple yet neatly held by bright acidity. The finish is clean and dry with a subtle nutty echo. Balanced and food friendly, it is a versatile white Burgundy for everyday service; pour cool with roast chicken, grilled trout or simple pastas where transparency and refreshment are key.
