Description
Founded in 1831 in Beaune, Maison Albert Bichot has long worked in the Maconnais, partnering with growers on limestone slopes to frame a clear, fruit led style of Chardonnay. Pouilly-Fuisse 2020 draws on sites across the appellation and was hand harvested for balance after a warm season. Fermentations were conducted cool in stainless steel to safeguard aroma and line. The wine then rested on fine lees to build mid palate weight, with a subtle proportion matured in neutral barrels to add texture without overt oak imprint. No new wood is used, keeping variety and origin in view. In the glass it is mid weight and gastronomic, carrying ripe peach and citrus with gentle nut notes over a persistent mineral thread. Acidity is clean and well integrated, giving length and a dry, neatly defined finish. A versatile white Burgundy for richer fish, roast poultry and soft cheeses, it captures the sunny character of the south of Burgundy while remaining poised and food friendly; serve cool to emphasise clarity and lift.
