Description
Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso 2016 is an exceptional single-vineyard Nerello Mascalese crafted by the Cusumano family on the high-altitude Guardiola contrada, a historic site on Mount Etna's northern slope. Founded in 2013, Alta Mora focuses exclusively on volcanic terroir, and the Guardiola parcel, rising to 800 metres, yields ultra-low crops of intensely flavoured grapes. Hand-harvested fruit is fermented in stainless steel for precision, then matured in large, neutral oak casks, allowing the unique basalt-rich soils to drive the wine's personality. This Etna Rosso stands out for its wild herb, sour cherry, and smoke-scented nose, a core of mineral-driven fruit, and sinewy tannins wrapped in lively acidity. The 2016 vintage was notable for its long, even ripening - delivering rare balance and energy. Delicious with Sicilian lamb, wood-roasted mushrooms, or hard cheeses, this wine will continue evolving complexity over a decade.
