    • Description

The Ata Rangi Kotinga Pinot Noir 2021 is the second release of this Dijon-clone single-vineyard bottling, based entirely on clones 115, 667 and 777 planted on free-draining gravel soils. It is fermented and matured in a single large 2,280-litre foudre (rather than smaller barriques) to preserve bright fruit and subtle structure. On the nose it shows vibrant aromas of cherry, red currant and plum stone, while the palate opens with supple tannins and fluid, energetic acidity. Flavours of grapefruit and juniper extend through the mid-palate, imparting vibrancy and a touch of herbal lift. The wine is fresh, playful now yet with enough structure to reward careful cellaring over a decade.
