    • Description

The Ata Rangi Te Wa Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a complex and textural expression of Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc that goes beyond the variety’s typical aromatic profile. Sourced from free-draining alluvial gravels on the Martinborough Terrace, fruit was hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, with 20% of the blend fermented as whole bunches and a further 10% undergoing skin contact to build structure and depth. The remainder was barrel fermented with indigenous yeasts, adding weight and savoury nuance. The 2024 season was marked by a cool, even ripening period through January and February, producing fruit with bright acidity and intense aromatics. The wine opens with lifted aromas of lime zest, jasmine, rosemary and sherbet, layered with subtle nutty notes of cashew and aged gouda from lees work. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, combining citrus and herbal energy with a supple mid-palate and a long, saline finish. Bottled young to preserve freshness, it will drink beautifully now but can develop further complexity over three to five years.
