Vineyard Cultivation

Bestheim is a long-established Alsace producer and cooperative based at Bennwihr, drawing on member vineyards across the region's slopes. Pinot Gris is one of Alsace's four noble grape varieties, and the 'Chasseurs de Lune' bottling is made from a qualitative selection of fruit grown on the varied clay, limestone and marl soils of the eastern foothills of the Vosges. The mountains shelter the vineyards, giving one of France's driest, sunniest climates with a long, cool ripening season well suited to aromatic whites. The 2022 vintage was warm and sunny, yielding ripe, generously flavoured Pinot Gris with good concentration.

Vinification

Selected grapes were pressed and the juice fermented in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures to preserve the variety's aromatics. The wine was then aged on its fine lees for more than six months, adding roundness and texture, while malolactic fermentation was deliberately avoided to retain freshness and varietal character. This unoaked, lees-aged approach delivers a rounded, smooth Pinot Gris with refined white-flower, orchard-fruit and gently honeyed notes and a balance between freshness and substance.
