"(Pauillac; 67% Cabernet Sauvignon; 21% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Franc; 2% Petit Verdot; pH 3.70; 13% alcohol; tasted at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin and then at Mouton-Rothschild with Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy). Beautifully aromatic and highly expressive, with a lovely wild floral note, thyme and a little sage and those popping, perfectly ripe, plump berries generously enrobed in graphite with the cedar arriving in the mid-palate with the cassis. There's a little elderflower too. This is a much more classical and even slightly opulent Pauillac than it once was and I am struck again by the quality of the work that has been undertaken here in recent vintages. This is first of the Mouton stable to have been upgeaded and the results are now very clear to see. - 94 to 96 Points - Colin Hay"

"The 2025 vintage of Château d’Armailhac marks a striking leap in quality in recent years. At the lift of the glass, the purity of Cabernet Sauvignon springs to life, moving toward you with a light, almost dancing grace. A lifted acidity draws the wine into a space of clarity and light, where everything feels open and finely defined. Even though the tannic structure remains firm, and the finish shows a hint of playful firmness, there is no sense of pressure. "Aromatic intensity, wild flowers, some chocolate and blackcurrant notes. Red cherries. Grippy and filling but soft, chalky and saline, a gorgeous weight on the palate with ripe bramble berries, cool blue fruit and lots of cola, liquorice and wet stones. Very transparent and hands off. A touch straight but lovely muscular edge without the heft. Juicy, fun, clean, pure. Balanced. Savoury. Great job controlling the extraction – tannins are there but this is sapid too. A little more serious and structured and perhaps overall elegant than Clerc. A 2% dash of Petit Verdot completes the blend. - Georgina Hindle"
