Description
Across generations, the Dubourdieu family has left a lasting imprint on the wine world. George, the refined master of winemaking; Pierre, the visionary; Denis, the celebrated viticulturist and white wine authority; and now Fabrice and Jean-Jacques, the committed successors, have each played pivotal roles. Today, the family is involved in several esteemed estates, including Château Reynon, Clos Floridène, Château du Haura, and Château Doisy-Daëne, with Fabrice and Jean-Jacques continuing to uphold their father’s remarkable legacy of excellence.
Château Doisy-Daëne, a Second Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Barsac classification, is famed for its distinctive terroir. The Barsac plateau—an exceptional feature in Bordeaux—is composed of a thin layer of red, clayey sands atop a limestone base. During the hot summer months, the porous limestone slowly releases the winter’s stored moisture to the vines, shielding them from drought stress. This rare soil structure imparts a remarkable finesse and delicacy to the white wines crafted here.
Doisy-Daëne wines embody a unique style: bursting fruit enhanced by noble rot, combined with strength, balance, and intricate subtlety. The estate’s wines are the perfect reflection of their exceptional limestone terroir and the Dubourdieu family’s aesthetic tradition—producing distinguished white wines of crystalline purity, youthful energy, and an enduring sense of freshness and power.
