    • Description

Churchill's 1997 Vintage Port, bottled in a rare half-bottle format, comes from an outstanding year considered one of the Douro's greatest late-20th-century harvests. This wine is sourced from the house's Grade-A Cima Corgo vineyards, where low-yielding, old vines on steep schist terraces deliver exceptional concentration. The grapes are harvested by hand, foot-trodden in granite lagares, and undergo slow fermentation before fortification with grape spirit. The wine spends two years in seasoned oak casks, then is bottled unfiltered to preserve its power and complexity. Now with decades of bottle age, this 375ml release reveals a striking bouquet of dried black fruits, fig, tobacco, dark chocolate and floral notes. The palate is dense and structured, with firm tannins softened by time, delivering layers of plum, spice, leather, and a long, elegant finish. Decant before serving with mature cheeses, rich chocolate desserts or as a meditative end to a special meal. This wine is a collector's piece and a window into the longevity and elegance of vintage port.
