Description
Cockburn's, founded in 1815, has been a key name in the Douro Valley and is known for extensive vineyard holdings in the Douro Superior. Fine Ruby Port is crafted from estate and partner-grower fruit, predominantly from schist-rich soils, selected for colour and aromatic intensity. Grapes are harvested by hand and undergo short fermentation in stainless steel and concrete tanks to preserve freshness and extract gentle tannins. After vinification, the wines are matured for two to three years in large oak vats at Cockburn’s historic Vila Nova de Gaia cellars. The final blend is assembled from several recent harvests to ensure consistency of style and character. Bottled at 19% abv with a driven cork, this port is notable for its dark berry and cherry flavours, subtle spice, and vibrant acidity, showing the house’s trademark youthful structure. Suitable for immediate enjoyment or short-term cellaring.
