Description
Dow's, established in 1798 and now part of the Symington family group, produces its 10 Year Old Tawny Port from estate vineyards in the Douro, with fruit sourced mainly from Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Ribeira. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified using a combination of stainless steel and traditional granite lagares, then aged in seasoned oak casks in Vila Nova de Gaia. Individual lots are matured for an average of ten years, with blending undertaken to achieve consistency, balance, and the classic Dow's house style. The finished port is marked by amber colour, aromas of dried apricot, roasted nuts, and caramel, with a palate that is rich but restrained, supported by lively acidity and a long, elegant finish. Bottled at 20% abv under natural cork, Dow's 10 Year Old Tawny is ready to drink on release and pairs well with a variety of cheeses and desserts, or can be served lightly chilled as an aperitif.
