Description
Forrest Wines, founded in 1988 by Drs John and Brigid Forrest, has built a reputation for scientific rigour and textural ambition across its Marlborough portfolio. The Reserve series captures the most expressive components from each vintage, and in the case of 'The White', blends them into a layered, multi-varietal statement. The 2023 release brings together Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Arneis, Albariño, Viognier and Pinot Gris – each harvested and vinified separately across a combination of stainless steel, neutral oak and large-format vessels. Portions were aged on lees to build mid-palate shape, with a small addition of aged reserve wine included for mouthfeel and integration. Bottled at 13% ABV with 5g/L residual sugar, 7.2g/L total acidity and a pH of 3.2, it is aromatic and textural in equal measure. Citrus blossom, ripe nectarine and wild florals lead, followed by a palate that layers freshness, savoury depth and stone-fruit generosity. This is a finely composed, gastronomic white with wide pairing versatility, ideally suited to seafood, poultry or seasonal vegetable dishes.
