    • Description

Founded in 1776 in Reims, Champagne Louis Roederer remains family run and farms around 450 acres across Montagne de Reims, Cotes des Blancs and Vallee de la Marne, supplying most of its own fruit and maintaining high average cru ratings. Collection 245 is the house’s 245th blend and is anchored by the 2020 harvest. The cuvee is 41% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 24% Meunier, with 55% from 2020, 35% from a perpetual reserve started in 2012 and 10% oak-aged reserve wines; only about 22% of the vins clairs underwent malolactic fermentation and dosage is 7 g/L. After roughly 3 years on lees and a further 6 months post disgorgement, it is bottled at 12.5% ABV. In the glass it shows a golden hue and lively bead with notes of nectarine, ripe lemon, petals and sugared almond. The palate is velvety yet chalk edged, combining citrus and yellow fruit depth with subtle smoky nuances from the oak-aged reserves, finishing long and saline. Enjoy well chilled now or after a few years’ careful cellaring.
